Biography

Munmun De Choudhury is an assistant professor in the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech where she directs the Social Dynamics and Wellbeing Lab. She is also affiliated with the GVU Center. Munmun’s research interests are in computational social science, with a focus on assessing, understanding, and improving personal and societal mental health from online social interactions. Her work has been the recipient of ten best paper and honorable mention awards at premier computer science conferences, has been supported by awards like the James Edenfield Faculty Fellowship and the Yahoo Faculty Engagement Award, and has also been extensively covered by popular press venues like the New York Times and the NPR. Earlier, Munmun was a faculty associate with the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard, a postdoc at Microsoft Research, and obtained her PhD in Computer Science from Arizona State University.
